In Twin4Clim, Urban Digital Twins and application-oriented solution modules are being developed to support proactive climate change adaptation for municipalities. This enables local decision-making processes in the areas of structural development and densification to be more targeted toward sustainable settlement development, taking into account heavy rainfall events and green infrastructure.
The solution modules are being implemented in three pilot municipalities in the Bavarian–Salzburg border region. An action plan with guidelines for cross-border implementation of the solution modules for proactive climate change adaptation—based on cross-border harmonized Urban Digital Twins—ensures transferability to additional municipalities on both sides of the border. Cross-border transfer events and innovative formats organized by Bayern Innovativ and Innovation Salzburg, such as an Innovation & Startup Challenge, ensure broad knowledge transfer to municipalities, service providers, regional/national authorities, interest groups, sectoral agencies, and the public.
